IIT JEE 2010 – For Admission to Undergraduate Courses at IIT- Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, Bombay, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Indore, Kanpur, Kharakpur, Madras, Mandi, Patna, Punjab, Rajastan, Roorkee, IT-BHU Varanasi, ISM Dhanbad
Examination Schedule
April 11th, 2010 (Sunday):
Paper 1: 09.00 -12.00 hrs
Paper 2: 14.00 -17.00 hrs
Paper-1 and Paper-2 will each have separate sections in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Both papers will be of objective type, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.
Syllabus for this examination will be available on the websites of all IITs. The candidate will have the option of submitting the application form either on-line or off-Line. Important dates regarding Application Form and Brochure:

Application Forms Availability for IIT JEE 2010
IIT JEE application forms are expected to be available in 3rd week of November. The forms can be bought from the designated branches of banks depending on the zone, details regarding which will be available with release of admission notification. The forms can also be requested by sending a demand draft along with a request for the form. A candidate can also apply online through IIT website by filling the required details in the online form and sending the printed form along with Demand Draft and other documents to specified IIT.
Eligibility Criteria for IIT JEE:
To be eligible for admission through IIT JEE a candidate should have passed class 12th or equivalent with atleast 60% marks in aggregate. There is 5% relaxation for SC/STs. Besides that a candidate should not be more than 25 years as on 1st October 2009. For SC/STs a candidate should not be more than 30 years. Only those candidates who have passed 12th in 2009 or are appearing in 2010 can appear for IIT JEE.

There are two papers of 3 hours duration each. Both the papers have objective questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. There will also be negative marking for incorrect answers.

Reservation of Seats:
1. 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates with relaxed qualifying norms. Some SC/ST candidates, who do not qualify in JEE-2010, may be offered admission to the Preparatory Course of one-year duration provided.
(i) seats are available,
(ii) Candidates satisfy minimum norms, and
(iii) Candidates have not undergone the Preparatory Course earlier. Candidates successfully completing the Preparatory Course will be offered direct admission to the first year in the academic year 2010-11.
2. For OBC Candidates belonging to non-creamy layer, 18% Seate are reserved in each programme in the older IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Khanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee), IT – BHU, Varanasi and ISMU, Dhanbad, and 27% seats are researved in each program in the new IITs (Bhubaneswar, Gandhinager, Hyderabad, Patna, punjab and Rajesthan) candidates belonging to this category are admitted on the basis of a relaxed criterion
3. 3% for PD including leprosy-cured candidates, who are otherwise fit to pursue the course and who qualify for admission under relaxed norms relevant for this category

IIT online form has a problem. Pint 22 counselling should be kept for general category candidate but it is not possible to keep option blank on web site.
IIT Chennai is not able to correct this problem inspite of information to them. I am as Students in confution and thinking to fill up paper form instead of online application to avoid future problem or doing wrong as a probale premier IIT student.
Please check your self and comment please.

request to clarify the position reg. Requisite OTHER BACKWARD CLASS CERTIFICATE as on Jan 01,2010 for participating in the admission of IIT.
1> Other form of OBC Certificate,usually issued by the concerened authority will be acceptable/considered for admission or not?
2> In absence of the requisite OBC candidate will be treated/ considered in General Category?
3> In ROHTAK Distt. OBC certificate is issued by only TEHSILDAR as per the guidline of state govt. then how it can be intervened to have the certificate to be issued by the SDM as desired in the JEE Form?
