Queen of Yesteryears, Sumalatha is back
Sumalatha, one of the most popular actresses from the mid eighties to the nineties, suddenly disappeared from films after she got marriedto politician turned Kannada superstar Ambareesh in 1991. Debuting in films at age 15 after winning a beauty contest in Andhra Pradesh, she had acted in almost all types of roles from character to high action movies,
With a stunning capability to handle six different languages, Sumalatha literally ruled Southern films of her generation. Now, she is all set to make her comeback into Malayalam with the upcoming Prithviraj movie Calendar to be directed by debutant Mahesh.
In this film, Sumalatha will appear as a character named Thankom George, a widowed professor who lives for her only daughter Kochu Rani. Planned as a hilarious comedy, the movie will have Prithviraj in the lead as Sojashan Olikkara, who brings a dramatic twist in the lives of mother and daughter. Navya Nair is the heroine.
